Case study · Women's Bean Project

A store that sells more — so more women get a second chance.

Women's Bean Project is a Denver social enterprise that hires women who've been chronically unemployed and teaches them to work by making natural food products. Every product sold funds the program. We redesigned their whole website to sell those products and tell the women's stories — and rebuilt their shop into Shopify, where retail and wholesale finally run as one.

The challenge

When the store is the mission, every sale matters.

Women's Bean Project isn't a store with a cause attached — the store is the cause. Product sales pay for the transitional jobs that change women's lives, so the website has two jobs at once: sell the food, and tell the stories of the women behind it. On top of that, running retail and wholesale side by side ate up staff time they couldn't spare. They needed one site that made managing both far easier — and that could be found by the people looking for exactly what they make.

The redesign

A homepage that sells the product, honors the women, and gets found.

We redesigned the entire website to do three jobs at once — put the food front and center to drive sales, weave in the stories of the women whose second chance every purchase funds, and get all of it in front of more people through search and AI.

  • Product-forward design built to convert browsers into buyers
  • The women's stories woven through the shopping experience
  • Built for discoverability — ongoing SEO and GEO growing their reach

The shop

Retail and wholesale, finally one store.

We rebuilt their entire cart into Shopify and unified it — retail shoppers and wholesale buyers now live in one platform, one catalog, one place to manage it all. Wholesale is a dedicated logged-in experience with its own pricing and ordering.

Redesign the site, rebuild the store, grow the reach.

Three areas of focus, one goal: sell more product so more women get the job that changes everything.

Step 1 · Redesign

A website built to sell — and to tell

We redesigned the whole site to move product and carry the mission — a shopping experience that converts, with the women's stories running through it so buyers know exactly what their purchase makes possible.

Step 2 · Shopify rebuild

Retail and wholesale, unified

We rebuilt their entire cart into Shopify and brought retail and wholesale under one roof — wholesale as a logged-in experience with its own pricing, all managed from one platform instead of two disconnected systems.

Step 3 · SEO & GEO

Found by more of the right people

We've been growing their visibility in both traditional search and AI answers (GEO) — putting their products in front of more of the people already looking for them, and turning that reach into real sales growth.
